People don’t buy WHAT you do, they BUY why you do it – Simon Sinek
Introduction: Our Why is our most authentic expression
Every day we are selling ourselves, exchanging value, letting it flow, or blocking it. We exchange value in an idea, our energy, our vibe, a connection, our thoughts, our words, and our actions. Every minute of every day, this authenticity, or lack of it, determines the level of trust, attraction, repulsion, scarcity, abundance, influence, and even our intimate relationships.
Ultimately we attract WHAT we are, WE can influence the world around us and move it, by expressing, embodying, and living in the truth of WHY we do what we do. Letting our patterns of behavior be our character.
To be compelling in your life, connections, and even the marketplace, you need to be more than a commodity or a textbook copy. You need to be you, and you need to share from a place that truly inspires you. Otherwise, it's just noise.
People will know, see, and feel the difference when you come from a place that matters.
If it's just for financial gain, that's understandable. Just accept the reality that it's not compelling. This is what most of the world is doing and where most of the noise is coming from. You get to add to it or stand out from it.

EXAMPLE: My why is money? Is it really?
As an example if money is a motivator. Ask yourself WHY is that so? Perhaps the money represents something else? The ability to pay bills? Why is that important? To pay bills, so that my family is safe? Why is it important that your family is safe? Because they are the people I love most. WHY? So your why for money, is really about your highest value, which is family? ….. You feel me. Go deeper and let us know what comes up.
2-minute overview of Sinek's Start with WHY
STORY: The CAR salesman who had a WHY
This is an important definition. It changes the way we communicate What we do, into WHY we are doing it. Even if we are washing dishes, selling cars, or running a cafe. We link our WHY to what we do.
Eg. Car salesman, helping. a mother buys a car. Traditionally speaking, many car salespeople have been focused on the money and their commissions. Often pushing and forcing people to buy cars that never really wanted or needed. Nor did it serve their financial position.
Now, Imagine a car salesman who had an accident and nearly lost his family in a car crash. Today, he is a car salesman to ensure that people have safe, affordable, and reliable vehicles for themselves and their families. This car salesman listens and asks the right questions to find the right fit for you. It’s not about money, it’s about family and safety. You ask him why he’s different from the others. and he shares his story. It builds trust. Would you be more or less likely to buy from this person, provided he found the right solution for you?
Apply your WHY to 5 laws from The GO-GIVER by Bob Burg
OK, NOW FOR THE ACTIVITY
This activity will provide what you need to do this. It will be a jetpack to your success by helping you understand...
🔥 What is your most authentic motivation?
🤔 Why do you do what you do?
TOOL: 6 step ACTIVITY
15-Minutes of WHY: Slam session with a friend, or mentor
1. Organise a call with a dear friend... Mentor...
pick someone curious and considerate. They will be co-creating an experience that will allow you to unpack deeper layers of yourself!
2. They will do this by committing to asking you "WHY" an endless flurry of times.
This will help you understand WHY you do what you do. Inform them that it will take about 15 minutes, and in moments, it may feel clumsy and awkward, but it is really important for the success of your business!
3. Once you are settled and ready, have them ask you:
- What do you do?
- Why do you do that?
- Why is that important to you?
- And why is that important?
- Why, why, why?
How Do I Know When I have my WHY?
Well, it's not about knowing it, it's about FEELING IT
For me: DOES YOUR WHY MAKE ME CRY? Does it evoke an emotion that moves me to overcome every challenge that I may be faced in order to stay on that path? Lead from the heart and alignment with my True North.
Depth requires stillness and silence
If you aren’t feeling it, or anything at all. Spend some time getting back into your own vibe and rhythm. Start doing things that light your soul on fire, bring happiness, and enjoy your life.
Clues….
- Remember moments, when you felt “pure bliss”
- Remember moments when time stood still!
- Remember moments when you felt truly alive, in your cells!
Before we go deeper, let us remember that true purpose is human; bliss moments are our greatest guide, happiness is the purpose of life and you will know you have found your WHY when it ignites an emotion. You will probably cry. That’s when you know your why.
More WHY questions to get the heart moving
- Why do you get out of bed each morning?
- Why should people care, why do you care?
- What moments made time stand still? Why were you doing them?
- What past experiences created a feeling of bliss and inner peace? Why were those moments important to you?
- What past experiences created pain, and trauma and challenged your shadows?
- Why do you want to share these lessons with others? Why is this a driver for you?
- What are people naturally attracted to you for? And why do they feel that you are the go-to person to solve that problem?
If you find an answer, try this:
Go deeper and ask yourself—“Why is that important to me?”
Do this 12 times and keep digging deeper.
WHY? … so that…
WHY? … so that…
WHY? … so that… etc..
If you get stuck, try adding “so that” to keep the thoughts and feelings flowing.
Once the answer creates an emotion (e.g. you cry), you will know your why.
Once you have found it, use that to guide your decisions and expressions.
Why… So that…. For Now….
Now, this is an important point to add. We can use “for now”.
Depending on where we are in our life, our hero's journey, and our circumstances. Our WHY can be big, but it can also be simple.
As an example, I worked with a father, who had a vision and a bigger why to create a foundation to support disadvantaged youth, who had grown up with absent parents, or parents that suffered from mental health challenges and addictions. Why? because this was the container that he grew up in and moved out of. However, in his current circumstance, his health was lacking, and he didn’t have enough finances and resources to look after his family and front doorstep. His family was his main why. So his “why, for now”, was to serve in a way that was heading toward the bigger WHY, but solved the immediate challenge and personal WHY.
Have them continue asking these questions. Get beyond the mental constructs and any rehearsals. Excavate until you tap into your feelings. Get raw and real, even if it feels awkward and uncomfortable.
The real juice of Creating Content That Matters (and the success of your business) depends on what lives at the bottom of this exercise.
4. Have your friend take copious notes or leverage AI.
Everything, as much as possible. Use Otter.ai, if you want to record it and let the tech transcribe the full conversation for you .

5. When you both feel complete
(there may be a ground-shaking response that feels like a fitting crescendo), revisit the notes together and highlight key learnings.
6. Create an article:
"WHY IT MATTERS: First Name Last Name". Unpack and share what you discovered, being sure to answer the following...
🔥 What is your most authentic motivation?
🤔 Why do you do what you do?
- You're welcome to repeat the exercise.
Different people may help you extract different things. However, you may feel complete after a single session.
EXAMPLES of MY WHY EXPRESSED
MY PERSONAL WHY (what drives me internally)
This is WHY I/we are truly here. Simon Sinek shares that “true purpose is human” and inspires every human being and conscious enterprise to “start with why,” not the what and the how.
Helping you go first and helping the people you care about is why.
I Imagine a world where everyone lives in abundant overflow, looking after their families, friends, and communities.
If we all did just this ONE thing, together we can positively impact the narrative for future generations through our actions, not just through words and policies.
I Imagine a world where we all thrive together co-creating nourishing environments, supported by communities of high-vibing humans with one common goal. One person can make a difference!
"why is this important to me"
If we ever meet one day, you can ask me "why is this important to me", and I will openly and vulnerably share what led me to this point. Let's uncover you're why and maybe you can share that with me one day too! And if by chance, we share a similar mission, let's work together!
My Personal Why

My story and experiences, my pain, led me to purpose.

Other people's stories and WHY’s inspired me to find mine.

Bigger WHY (for us, for us, for us)

OUR SHARED WHY —“THE RISING BILLIONS”
It all starts with having the courage to go first. Without comparison, judgment and the limiting beliefs that may have got you here in the first place. We share the same goal: to ignite our own human potential and take radical responsibility for our own health and well-being. Why this is important and meaningful to you right now, might be different to what it represents for me, or anyone else. But that is okay. This is a personal journey. We use an “inside-out approach,” helping you master what is within your control so that you can manifest and consciously engineer anything into your external reality. Living with a belief that “anything is possible from here!” Learn to trust your innate wisdom, connect to the universal source, knowing that the universe has your back. One person, just like you can make a difference. It is the only thing that ever has. If you can’t yet do this for yourself, do it for others, or do it in the service of something greater!
SUMMARY & Action Step
Linking my Personal WHY, with the BIGGER WHY
ME: My Personal WHY
My personal mission is to promote health happiness and connection in a unified and sustainable world. After nearly losing my health at 26, I realized what was truly valuable in life. This pain led me to this purpose.
For me, as a health professional who lost his health. Self-care is about empowering each of us (me included) to look after ourselves so that others may never need to. It is a human-centric, natural, energetic, and spiritual approach that unlocks our human potential and empowers each of us to optimize our human experience in our own unique way.
I feel that this will enable each individual to have an impact and create an intergenerational ripple effect of positive change. This is a natural outcome when we each learn to fill our own cup daily and serve from overflow.
I believe that the future is abundant. There is enough for all of us. Let’s learn to thrive together as one, sharing and circulating life’s abundance so that we create a world that is a win for all.
Why is this important to me (see my story)
